Library when I'm at home. Charity shops / book exchange when I'm on holiday.
I used to buy reference books, but have no need for them now.

hc, I get the feeling libraries are not that well frequented these days which is a great shame as bookstores etc tend to deal in whats popular now, ie part of the celebrity culture
I always look in Charity Shops at the books, but very rarely find anything.
If I want new books I always check on Amazon.
As our nearest Library is 12 miles away,I don't frequent it at all!
Amazon. I've had an account with Cambridge's biggest bookshop for forty years but can't be fussed to drive 8 miles into town or ring them up and have books sent. Online must be badly affecting the business of bookshops.!
I use the library .I like to get my moneys worth from the Council Tax :)
We have a superb library service here and I can reserve what I want in advance and run my acount on line Considering my penchant for mystery and thriller books these are the sort of thing I will only read once so can't see the point in buying them.
I used to buy a lot of books but now we are living on our pensions they are not really a top priority so I'm glad to have the library .
I do buy the odd reference book, cookery book etc .But I have bookshelves that groan under the weight of it all and I keep saying I'm going to sort them out and recycle them to the charity shop :)
library when i can get into town, internet mainly but again if i'm in town i'll browse through the charity shops and market stalls
I like looking in charity shops for books. I have got some really good ones there.
We have a really good library .We have to pay £7 a year ( I think ) but they have a very good selection of up to date books with a shelf of new arrivals updated regularly .Also have a free magazine exchange. Mostly buy from charity shops especially for hols. Recently bought 100 classic books for my DS and am working my way thro' them.
Our nearest library is actually about 9 miles away, but as this comes under another Council we are unable to use it.This Council ask for ID of where you live, and if it's not in their borough then hard cheese!
The nearest Library (under our council) is 12 miles away,so not very good value from a Council Tax point of view.
I use my library it's only 12 mile away. All you that live too far, is there no mobile service, then you could order your book via internet an then pick it up.
