What is the title of this novel that goes between medieval Britain and Britain in the present? It's based around a romance in the present and the couple's past lives in which they could not be together.

Go to the Abebooks website, enter the reading room and click on booksleuth, you can post your book details there and people email in if they know the title, author etc
Sounds like something by Barbara Erskine, but AFAIK they all have pretty much the same plot. The most famous one is "Lady of Hay". As woofgang says, Abebooks might be able to help, but they're a bit slow on updates at the moment. Also, some of the suggestions aren't that accurate. (Unless they're mine, of course!).
....and mine :-) yes, they seem to update the pages about weekly now. I am surprised that more literary ABers don't feature there considering what a bunch of clever helpful little bunnies we are.
I believe its called posession and it was recently made into a Gwynth Paltrow movie
I don't think it is Possession because this was moving between nowadays and Victorian (not medieval) Britain. Unfortunately I cannot help more.
Possession was written A.S Byatt ( the one that doesn't like adults reading Harry Potter books ). Vittoria is correct in that it is set in Victorian england - it is actually about a two modern day researchers, researching two victorians. The two stories are interwoven throughout the book- it is certainly worth reading.
Not that we have any response from kymm84, but it turns out that the missus has a copy of "Lady of hay", and it seems to fit the bill. The heroine's name in the past is Matilda, and in the present Jo Clifford. Like I said earlier, nearly all BE's books seem to have the same plot, though.

Thanks everyone! I looked up the 'Lady of Hay' and it sounds like it has a similar plot to the book I was looking for but its not the same one. The one I'm looking for was also very long (about 800 or 900 pages). In it, the woman in medieval Britain gets pregnant out of wedlock and is killed (I don't remember how though). Thanks.
