I have the print/painting of 2 sailboats and the full moon and what a lot of people failed to mention was the water, it is beautiful, paint or print. everyone who have seen this picture fell in love with it. I bought it at an estate sale for 165.00, Previous owner say he bought in the late 80s for 265.00. I would not sale mine, fell in love at first site. As I look at it now it looks like a print, but it is so large for our time. no one makes paintings this big anymore. I am in Akron Ohio
Does anyone want to sell their Letterman? How can I buy another one. I found my Letterman at a thrift store in West Palm beach, Florida and paid $75 for it. The usual shades of brown, orange, and very symetrical. I am amazed by his simplicity. Please email me if you have any paintings of this artist. email photos and descriptions to [email protected].

Thank you

Hi there. I photographed two Letterman Sailboat prints/originals/whatever in a wholesale t-shirt shop. These were in Los Angeles. I photographed them for two reasons: they were strikingly graphic and almost anime in detail, which I enjoy. Secondly, the owner believed, and had me believing, that the talk show host David Letterman was the artist. These were both night scenes of sailboats -- one in grey-ish tones and the other showing off the bright orange striped sail. The details -- like a truck crossing the bridge, the hard lines of the bridge, the people in the sailboat, the glowing full moon and reflections on the dark water -- are really quite interesting. Truly, it reminds me of anime graphic style. As an Art Consultant, I would say that regardless of their production numbers, method or artist, that they are quite beautiful and a great representation of this style. The blues, blacks, greys and bright moon make for a tremendous visual. I have not seen any of the others mentioned, but do have snaps of these two. Due to their large size, one in good shape should fetch $1000-$1500 to a collector of Letterman OR of 70s/80s kitsch. I, too, am hoping for a website!
I also have a letterman painting. trees with sun and mountains behind and a reflection of the trees in from. all shades of brown and beige. My very rich cousin bought it and I can't imagine her buying anything cheap when her clothes cost in the thousands.
Hey, I did a google search on these Letterman paintings because I too own one. I think mine is also 5 foot by 4 feet. It's almost all brown and couple blue stripes in it s well and it is interlace kind of like pretzel almost. I got mine at an auction at the end. I picked it up for five or ten dollars and I love it. I can make a whole room focused on just that painting.
We purchased a Letterman about 14 years ago for about $600.00.Ours is a large painting of ducks flying out of the marsh. It is done in browns, aqua and beige. We love it would like to see more of her work. Does anyone else have this one?
I got a Letterman painting and I'm interested to know more information about the painting and the painter. The following link is for the actual painting itself.

I too have a Lettermen painting, it is huge, the only thing i would put up on a wall, and it is gorgeous. It is of a silver moon, and water lilies. I have had it for years. I got it at bargains and treasures for almost next to nothing compared to the thousand dollars this older couple paid for it. The store I bought it at, everything was like new because the older couples in Florida have money but wish to down size because of their age. I know that sounds sad, but these villas are a retirement type area just in-between Ocala and Orlando Florida, But much closer to Ocala then Orlando. I was designing a garden apt for a Dr friend of mine, saw the painting and bought if for myself. I wish I could remember the name of the retirement area. If you are lucky enough to own a Letterman I am sure you are enjoying it. Come to think of it, the couple may have even paid more for the painting, fore it was marked down from a thousand becaise of it's size, it wasn't selling easily perhaps. or maybe I just got there at the right time. Things would go fast at this furnature store, like I said everthing that was brought in was like brand new. Perhaps they were placed in rooms that didn't get much use.

I live in Columbus, Ohio, I have a large oil on canvas 60" wide by 50' height. If was purchased at Ci-Bon's in Bexley, Ohio in 1985.
The picture has three scarlett macaws in a Magnolia tree the colors are so beautiful, the background done in shades of black and greys, the birds are more mauves and teals/greens. The magnolia tree is so well painted, creams, inks, darker rose color, the tree branches are done perfectly. The frame is black with a small strip of gold painted around the entire frame. The store also offered the same picture in a ornate gold frame.
It has the name Letterman Printed in block letters in the left hand lower body of the picture. It is not a signature like true oils. Is there any way of exchanging pictures to see if they look to be done by the same artist? My email is [email protected] I would be glad to exchange pics. I am trying to learn more. I feel the value for these guys is what a buyer is willing to give us...
