Does anyone know why the copyright on the Mr. Men and Little Miss books is for a Mrs. Roger Hargreaves, when the author was a man?

Roger hargreaves died, Mrs roger hargreaves took over the copyright as the books were still in production.

She no longer owns the copyright "Chorion PLC is an entertainment company based in the United Kingdom. It possesses the rights to the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters and the literary works of Enid Blyton, Raymond Chandler, Agatha Christie, and Georges Simenon."

It's not all that long ago that my mother stopped calling herself Mrs Joseph Smith rather than Mrs Mary Smith*. A common practice.

*Not her real name of course!

For a while the copyright was credited as 'THO', which stood for 'The Hargreaves Organisation', as two of Roger's children also look after the business.
