I am reading a book only about halfway through I have to return it today, can’t get it renewed, desperate to know how it ends.

I've not read it gordie but you might find your answers in this synopsis. There's also a link in the article of a detailed summary plus review. Hope this helps. Also, can you renew the loan period?

As Pasta’s link says, her mother had died in the fire and so the conversations were all in her mind. She doesn’t end up with the musician as she realised that it was an unrealistic expectation. She then has a breakdown and is found her colleague and is off work for a time. The link explains the incident that led to her problems. She remains good friends with her colleague but it doesn’t outline whether this becomes a romantic liaison. As the link says she has therapy and returns to work.
