Please explain these
1. Uproar resulting from shift of one line in Europe’s capitals. Ans Furore. Ore is one currency but can’t get the Fur.
2.Honest start to prepare for fight. Ans Square off . Where does off come from please?
3.Type choice of characters frequently used in statistics. Ans Sort . You quite often sort data in stats but can’t get it.
4. Nothing can cause this fearful condition for long. Ans neophobia (fear of anything new). Can’t see it.
5. Get nothing out of play, initially-one certain to fold . Ans dead duck. If a “batter” (awful word) is out for zero, that’s a duck. And if a venture is going to flop, it’s a dead duck. But where does dead come from in the clue and what is initially doing?

5 'out of play' - Dead
4 It's an &lit - nothing stays new for long.
If you take the bottom line out of the capital E of Eur(ope) you get Fur(ope) then add the currency ORE.
3 S or T - occur three times in 'Statistics'
1. a shift of one line could change EURope to FURope, very iffy ?
2 - the 'off' is the 'start'
2 Square (honest) off (start - "ready for the off")
