Really enjoying The Shadow King btw.

Set in Ethiopia in 1935 with the Italian invasion and the role of women fighters.

Wouldnt be surprised if this won this evening.
I saw the programme the other day featuring the shortlist but havet read any yet.
I'm catching up a bit late in the day with The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. Its so engrossing but long !! I really like her writing.
Question Author
Rosie,Ive not read The Goldfinch but kno thats shes a popular author.

'Shuggie Bain' is a v gud debut novel.V bleak tho and set in Glasgow during Thatcher's gov.

I found it too dismal a read for these lockdown times but the relationship between mother and family is well written.
Question Author
Shuggie Bain is the winner! Anyone else read it?
