Well firstly my school requests that i compare 3 books for my ah dissertation.  I was thinking of analysing the theme of corruption in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" but i can't think of another book which has the same theme running through it which is set in the same time period.  Does anyone have any suggestions? or even suggestions of 3 other books which all have the same theme running through that i could study instead? please help asap!

bit highbrow for me, but i'll give it a whirl- Importance Of Being Ernest?

Can you include an american book? If so what about 'The Great Gatsby' - set in 1920s (about halfway between the two books you already have. Plot summary on this web page:

How about the Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald.
Moral decline and corruption in American society in the 1920's.
Ah shaneystar - great minds.....!

I was also going to suggest Brighton Rock by Graham Greene.
if you are looking for a theme of corruption, then how about animal farm by George Orwell?
