Can anyone recommend any books, short stories or plays set around a dinner party. Abigail's Party springs to mind but nothing else.

I'm sure Agatha Christie wrote one

See it in French if you can...
The Agatha Christie one is in The Thirteen Problems .Six of the short stories revolve around a dinner party that Miss Marple is invited to attend .
There but for the ......by Ali Smith is good .A dinner party guest locks himself in the hosts spare room to get away from his awful fellow diners and refuses to leave .It's quite funny .
Think there is a JBPriestley play. Forget its name.
^^ An Inspector Calls, JB Priestly. Excellent play.
I remember one from years ago called the Long Christmas Dinner - it covered several years of Christmas Dinners. It wasn't very good.
I can only think of "Peter's Friends", a film some years ago starring Stephen Fry. It was about a long weekend but the dinner table featured quite heavily, from memory.

You could try going to Amazon and entering "dinner party" in the search box with Books, and then narrow the results further by choosing Fiction then further options down the left-hand side.
Exterminating Angel is unutterably brilliant

Only a film, though, not a book or play
Inspector Calls - very very good
My dinner with Andre. A film, I believe.
Haven't read the story by Isak Dinesen but the movie is fabulous http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babette's_Feast
There's an Agatha Christie one set around a dinner table but I cannot remember the title!!

Thanks for all your suggestions! I love answerbank! I'll check them out. I've read The Thirteen Problems and I suspect the other Agatha Christie ones people may recall are "And Then There Were None" and "Cards On The Table" which all feature people gathered around a table dining or playing cards.
