Most of today's unusually large and offensive supply have been suspended as soon as they hit the ground, either by moderators or by robots that have detected overposting. However, their posts remain visible, clearly annoying many people, including me. So my suggestion is that when a poster is suspended - by mods or robots - all his posts should automatically vanish. The Ed can of course restore them any time he sees fit. But my guess is that if their posts swiftly disappeared, they'd soon lose interest in posting them and go back to playing Tetris.

The AB Editor agrees with Craft that it's only a blip, do I deduce there won't be a solution to this ongoing problem ?
Just thought of something - while all these trolls’ invasions are unpleasant, it is also generating hits for the site, and might be doing a bit of good too, well perhaps.
It's not really an on going problem though. It happens now and then...
No, Ed, I don't use it, I was just recommending a solution.

I use better, more permanent methods to deal with abusive members ... It's called having Moderators that (IMO, or they wouldn't be moderators) are freakin' awesome and have powers that reflect my trust in them.
but its also putting people off society, the place looks out of control and unsafe when you are met with troll crap, they are hardly likely to return.

naz is right of course, the key is moderation, not sure what happened with the weekend ed, its fair to say he dropped the ball in this instance, it may be a one off, hopefully he will do a better job next weekend.
"You seem to be forgetting that there is more to AB than CB! "

I wouldn't agree ... I'm active enough in the topics that interest me outside of CB.
This probably sounds like a silly question but for someone thats relatively new to AB etc can you please clarify - whats a Troll??

Hi Ed....You always seem to waiting for Techies. Is this because AB's Server is not in the UK and the Yanks are not really on our side in International affairs.!! ☺☺☺

Ron.
thanks Vibrasphere - all making a LOT more sense now!

No. I will be doing something about it, as I said in this thread - or have you decided just to read random parts?

///Just thought of something - while all these trolls’ invasions are unpleasant, it is also generating hits for the site, and might be doing a bit of good too, well perhaps.///

This isn't how it works. They don't do any good at all.

Naz - Link to your site please? What Board tech are you running on?

Ron - No.

All the best,

That's an interesting name for a site Naz...
hehe. Dont know vibes but its a sure fire way to irritate to Trolls which may mean they leave the site alone...... although they may also get so irritated they just do it more. I suggest a trial run! I'm happy to volunteer to change posts if required. Could be fun!
Long story ...
Go on...
