Well, Lady Radley (aka Handbaglady) is here again and I wish you all a “Good morning” on this, my third Saturday as Royal Setter. I hope that my launch ends up in the right section of AnswerBank this week and at the correct time. You all had a puzzle of Hide & Seek on your hands, before you were even able to see my link words.
To continue on from last week, as well as showing dogs, my husband, John, and I ran a very successful dog training class for both ring craft and obedience. Furthermore, we had established a thriving family construction business, which demanded much of our time. Not surprisingly, when our second daughter, Joanna, was born in 1988, we had some difficult choices to make. We decided that we could no longer continue with the dog training classes and passed over the running of them to other members of the committee. So a chapter of our life came to a close as other doors opened.

When Joanna was born, Victoria was aged almost seventeen and quite grown up. When Joanna was about nine weeks old, we had quite a scare as we almost lost her due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. I recall that I’d been shopping and she was sleeping in the pram, whilst I made the dinner. John had come home early from work that day and I went to check on her only to find that she was not breathing. Fortunately, we lived very near Shotley Bridge General Hospital and with not a second to waste, grabbing Joanna we dashed to the van, leaving the front door unlocked. We knew that the house would be safe under the watchful eyes of Rottweilers, Sheba and Sara. We were in time for Joanna to be resuscitated and I spent a week in hospital with her and over the following year she had to have regular checkups.
Three years on and in March 1991, our son John was born and our family was complete. Later that same year, Victoria was married and the following summer I became a Grandmother to her first daughter, Tara. Although technically, Joanna and John are auntie and uncle to Tara, they have always been like brother and sisters. Sadly, in November 1991, John’s brother died and we inherited his house at White-le-head. We moved there the following March and Victoria and her husband moved in to our old house at Blackhill. Since then, Victoria has had a second daughter Amy who was born three years later.
Three years on and in March 1991, our son John was born and our family was complete. I am not one to stand still and as son John became more independent I decided to go back to college to train as a Learning Support/Teaching Assistant. That was 1994, but in 1997 we bought a newsagents! However, with more supermarkets selling newspapers, it was not as successful as we would have liked -- so we closed the shop in 1999. Looking around for my next challenge, I decided to realise my dream of working with children. Since then, all of my time spent working in schools has been devoted to special-needs children, several of whom were within the Asperger’s Spectrum. What rewarding work that is!
Now down to business. For the every-day running of MM, I shall follow the usual rule on word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when I believe gen2 will declare my selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My third set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
