Should there be a risk risk assessment on the following issues?
We are a team of 6 cleaners and recently we have been asked to make up beds ready for visitors but they have been changing over every few days so lots of bed making these bads are bulit in and are very difficult to make. I myself struggle alot as i am only 5,2 so reaching over to pull mattress up is hard on my back.
We have also been asked to take down curtains etc but the rooms also are bulit in such a way that there is a desk in front if window so you have to stand on chair ( not practical or safe) There are many other health and safety issues such as pulling out fridges and cookers etc by hand with out and equiptment this is taking its tole on all of us are we cleaners? Or are we housekeepers?

Your employers should have a Health and Safety file on the premises and yes someone in senior Management should have been in the appropriate courses and should have done RAs for each task. You should have been made aware of Manual Handling procedures re the beds and the taking down of curtains constitutes Working at Height and you should have step ladders and be trained in their use. Having sAid all that, these things are often neglected and workers can face victimisation if they bring such things to the notice of management.
