Markups

Are any markups currently available when posting to these messageboards? (I won't waste a posting experimenting)

Just one would be sufficient so that part of a posting could be distinguished from the rest of it e.g. being able to put text in bold, or italics, or even change of colour. A couple of instances when this would be useful are (i) quoting from a previous posting as part of an answer, and (ii) separating answers from the working in replies to crossword clues or other Q&P questions..

These markups are available on most messageboards elsewhere so why not here (assuming they don't already exist)?
