I noticed that a question was closed.
Who closed it. Was AB Ed? Was it the ABer that asked the question?
How can I close my questions and can I close someone else's questions?

The only person that can "close" a question is the original person that asked it.
AB Ed(and Spare Ed) only delete questions.
If you want to "close" a question of your own(to any more answers) look above the title of your question (in your profile) and you will see "close this thread".If you click on this no more answers will be able to be left for this...

Does anyone think we should remove the "close question" option?

Spare Ed
Or add a very visible status line after the last posting to say that the OP closed it.

Only when Shawnee posts, spare ED.(:O)

Thanks, Mr. Veritas, I can see it now! I don't ask many questions. I was hoping tp close a few from ABers that annoy me by reporting all my answers!

I think the close thread option is useful.
For instance I asked a question in genealogy and found the answer myself. I then posted this and closed the question as I did not want to have to check it anymore.
If I had just left it and not thanked further contributors this would have been considered ill-mannered.
There used to be the option to stop any more emails notifications once you had an answer. I found this to be more useful.
I think the "close this thread" facility IS useful.
If I had been quicker I would have used it on a recent question of mine(I forgot it was there!LOL)
My question received 30 answers or so.
Only 9 applied to my question, the others were "hijacked answers" that bore no relevance to my original post!
I don't ask many questions,BUT if I do in the future I shall take advantage of it to block "hijackers"
It's really annoying to be told you have got another answer, only to find it isn't about your question at all but some bit of useless banter.

AB ed hijacked my question. He/she should have opened a new thread.
Thanks for relevant replies. I chose Mr Veritas as 'best answer but I think he could have at least got 3 stars!
