Hi. My husband and I are going to mexico in august and will need to have the necessary vaccinations etc. From June onwards we are going to start trying for a baby (our first). I am worried about vannications and malaria pills etc whilst trying for a baby. Has anyone got any ideas about whether it is ok to get all the vaccinations? x

hi, i really would wait till after the holiday to start trying, i mean you could get caught first time and im not too sure about the vaccinations but i know the morning sickness can be morning, all day and night sickness and the last thing you'd want to do is go on holiday when you feel like this, i had a terrible first 3 months, i couldnt eat a thing really, you immune system will be weak if you get sickness and are not eating properly, i really would wait just so you know everything will be ok

xx
I can't give you a medical answer to your question but I do agree with onlyme. If you get pregnant first time as I did and suffer morning sickness - which is a terrible name for it, as mine lasted all day - it could really spoil a holiday! Waiting an extra couple of months to tyr for a baby, isn't going to make a lot of difference but might mean that you have one last, fantastic holiday without worrying about babies!

If you still want to start trying in june, you should speak to your GP about the vaccinations. I know if it were me, I'd want all the vaccinations on offer and try for a baby afterwards when I knew it would be safe.
PS. I wasn't even allowed to have the flu jab because I was pregnant
