Could we please have a font with serifs that could distinquish between I ( capital i ) and l ( little L ) . This would be most useful in the Q & P section.

Thank You

Serif fonts are designed for paper printing. They do not work well on screen. There are fonts designed for screen use like Tiresias which would add to legibility as well as doing the job you require. Even good old Verdana would be better than this one.

Cheers Gromit,

Yeah, Its better legibility I'm interested in, rather than whether there's a serif or not. It does cause some confusion in Q&P.

Do those fonts come with a star, spurs and their own gun?

Or did I misunderstand?
Ya missed summet ya dozy moo, mostly the H

Like ya thinking though ;-)
Go eat your hotpot!
I've never been confused in Q&P ...there are the odd one or two who think that we are mind readers but I put a lot of it down to dirty specs syndrome and people who put ----- instead of ??? :))
the font for user names has serifs - I don't know its name but it was introduced to try to weed out imposters who tried to confuse Is and ls. It might look a bit ugly to use it for entire posts, though.
Question Author
Hmmm - Just looking through previous posts - It seems like no-one ever answers these suggestions anyway - So I'll save my energy in future.

well, as I said, the change of font for usernames was brought in at users' request.
Look how clear the Tiresias Screen font is:

Like your user name by the way, downloaded the theme from iTunes (Orchestrated version) brilliant.

Yeah, that tail on the lower case L makes all the difference. How about it AbEd !

My bits WERE the best in the film, weren't they ?
SPIDER PIG

SPIDER PIG

Does whatever a SPIDER PIG does

Can he swing

From a web

No he can't

He's a pig

LOOK OOOUUUTTT!!!!

He is a SPIDER PIG!!
I've just looked at Tiresias, and I agree that it would be a more appropriate script to use - especially on the Q & P site. Unlike Shaneystar, I quite frequently get confused, and when I'm likely to be the cause of the confusion I try to use L or i.

So can I second your suggestion? How about it Ed?
possibly a bit hard to tell 0 from O on Tiresias?
Hello SpiderPig,

Just as an experiment, I set the default font setting in Explorer to Tiresias. This is how AB looks...

Uuum .... That doesn't look too good on my computer, some of the first strokes of each letter don't look well defined. Whether it would look better when it went live - I don't know.

On the plus side the capital I in the original question has serifs !
