When signing in, I usually receive a number code via my mobile phone. After veryifying that I requested it, I normally enter the code and I'm in. However, having entered the code it just says "Try Again". I don't understand why. Are there any YouTube users or clever techy folks out there who can help please? TIA

Thanks for that but I'm sorry, I don't understand it. As you will have gathered, I'm not savvy on the techy stuff. I might just try opening a new account. Thanks anyway.
Sound advice from Itchycopark, with the most important bit probably being the suggestion to clear your browser's cache. (It often helps solve website display problems). However, in order to provide you with specific advice on how to go about it, we'll need to know which web browser you're using. (Edge? Chrome? Firefox? Safari? etc). It might also help to know the type of device that you're using. (Desktop PC? Laptop? iPad? iPhone? Android tablet? Android phone? etc).

However if you can get into Google as a whole (rather than into YouTube specifically, which is part of Google) it might be simplest just to turn off 2-step verification, so that you no longer need to muck about with entering a code to use any Google service. Instructions here:

(That's what I've done, by the way. I hated those ruddy codes!)

Thank you, Buenchico. The link you supplied includes instructions to sign in and enter my password before being able to change anything. That's where the problem is. It doesn't recognize my password. It just says "Try again", every time. I've changed my password but that hasn't worked, so I'll probably just open a new YouTube account. I need to sign in because I want to upload a video. Or can I upload a video without signing in? Wouldn't have thought so, but thanks anyway.

And it's Google Chrome, BTW.

I've tried signing in on my mobile, desktop and wifes laptop. No joy. The problem on the desktop might be because I'm still using Windows 7, but phone and laptop are recent.
Annoying, because I have uploaded videos before, no problem.
As you've tried different devices, the problem clearly lies with Google not recognising your password. (I'm assuming that videos that you've uploaded in the past, or your YouTube channel(s), can still be found by searching on YouTube. If not, it would appear that your account has been deleted for some reason). Try resetting it again:
