I said it as a joke in a thread the other week, it seems the left are indeed after the good lord.

Rowlocks AOG.....this is just one stupid woman and its in the Express...end of story. You need to learn to sort the wheat out from the chaff, when dealing with the down-market tabloids.
Hello Mikey are you fully awake I have not been on this thread.
Who is Lord Nelosn? Am I missing something?
AOG....beg pardon !

Obviously you must be referring to the Left-Wing Guardian?
Yes AOG....beg pardon again....I have just noticed that load of pony is also in the Gruniard today !

In it also???

It was one of their columnists who wrote about it.
In this whole statue/memorial affair it angers me that communities are struggling - streets strewn with litter, elderly people isolated for want of a chat or some help with shopping or gardening.

What do those who want the World to be better do? Lobby to rip down lumps of stone/bronze or marble.

Beggars belief.

not going to take issue with what's actually said in the article, then? Best not debate these things!
They will be lobbing to close Waterloo Station next.
As long as they takes the tomatoes out of the tin before lobbing.
I'm sick of 'precious' people.
Soon the worm will turn. It is starting.

Then lets see how brave the masked lefties are.

I remember this event (just about!)
If anyone wants to read the original article that called for this, it's here:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/aug/22/toppling-statues-nelsons-column-should-be-next-slavery

I'm actually in favour of the Robert Lee statues being taken down (legally) but even I think this is a silly idea. In fact I'd be tempted to call it clickbait.

AOG, waterloo? can up in 1998: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/208881.stm
Some faux pas on this thread.

I haven't any love for statues but my initial thought was ... where will it end?
jno

After a little chat with a fellow I did an experiment along the lines of yourQ, jno.

Very successful it was too.
Awww c'mon surely Nelson didn't perform experiments on slave women without anaesthetic?

Perhaps 'the Left' should be reminded that on his death bed, he tried to cop off with that bloke who used to work with Stan Laurel ("Kiss me Hardy").

Surely a bit of last minute gay snogging would put him in a good light?
So now we know why the Statue of Thatcher was not allowed to be erected in Parliament Square, It would have been the first one to be pulled down. P/S , think Nelosn was a pop singer in the 1970s?
