Let's see
Don't bank on it. I've not got a quick draw badge and I have several first answers listed as best.
Well Factor ....it seems as if you run about telling people what they can and what they can't do you get best answer .
Personally I couldn't give a monkeys chuff about badges .I left the Brownies donkeys years ago .

I suspect that the system still needs tweaking, as when I click on the "Quick Draw" in my profile, the browser still crashes...

I wondered because I noticed one poster who has asked well over 200 crossword questions but has never answered a question or acknowledged answers got a 'quick on the draw' badge for chasing up his/her own question that hadn't been answered- then he/she gave himself the 'best answer'.

Lie-in King only has 3 badges for his brilliant work on Q&P while one poster has got one for never contributing answers or even saying thanks

I am sure there will be a few tweaks along the way and maybe this should be one of them.

Hi shaneystar- I don't see what the issue was there with the 'best answer' in your link. Yes you gave the answer first and boxtops gave useful guidance on how to make best use of the site and was given 'best answer' by the question setter. It is a bit arbitrary I agree but I don't mind.
Perhaps they could initiate a Head Girl Badge :)
I wouldn't dream of running around AB telling people off .
Question Author
I didn't see boxtops's reply as telling off and the OP mustn't have done either. But I know some people interpret guidance as 'telling people off'- there was a poster last week who kept replying' don't tell me what to do' whenever we pointed out how questions could better be asked

Has chuck or Ed been up to some mischief on this thread?
Question Author
Do you mind if I nominate you as best answer though, shaneystar2?
Oh well ..I'm not bothered really ..but I find a lot of this . Some people seem to think they are in charge and it gets on your nerves .
Do this ,do that ,duplicate post , put all your questions in one post , blah blah blah . Quite frankly I can't be bothered . I come here for a bit of R&R and to help people with their croswords ,if I can .
It's only a website .I left school years ago .
You can please yourself darling ..I'm not bothered one way or t'other :)
I don't know if you already know. . .you have two badges.
Why do I feel myself somewhat in sympathy with Shaney?
Question Author
Yes, thanks notafish.
Factor how on earth did you nominate yourself as best ans on your own q
It cannot have escaped the attention of Shaney and others that most of the carping criticism regarding the "protocol" to be observed on this site emanates from the Celtic fringes of our realm.
Morning. We are still tweaking - the processing time for badges is also still a long one. We are finding efficiencies as we go.
Bad luck factor30......You haven't been awarded a badge for your noble effort.

Perhaps it will arrive after the system has been fully tweaked.

I am afraid to say too much about the failings with the Badges hand-outs, in case I end up with, Not a Quick Drawer gun but am 'given the bullet'.:-)

Mmm. It worked as I have earned a Quick on the Draw badge for replying with a best answer so quickly. It doesn't feel right and I won't be able to sleep at night. Can I hand it back, Ed?
