Never thought that I would say this but.....
Transvestites creep me out!
Had many gay and lesbian friends over the years, never a problem.
Known a few transsexuals over the years, never a problem.
But someone that I work with every week ...ostensibly male...suddenly turning up to a works AGM in a dress, makeup, high heels, handbag and stockings is a bit of a shock to the system.
And then having to share a table while we are eating as though nothing is amiss ????
Found it a bit odd
Left early but wondered what toilets were used?
A lot of people there wouldnt have known him/her.
and the ensuing confusion.
It was pretty obvious that *she* was a man.
(a five oclock shadow didnt help)
Live and let live and each to their own,
but this creeped me out...
Did you know him long as a guy before he went full Lola?
The was a TV guy who was a member of my old geek group. Late thirties and straight, who most times I saw him, he was in his female persona. Didn't worry me in the slightest, in drag he was a she, out of drag, a he. However I can understand it being a shock if someone you've known a while suddenly came to work in his wife's Sunday best.
They give me the creeps too Nailit but luckily i have never been in the unfortunate position of being in the company of or talking to.........one of them.
It is a bit of a minefield; we had a lorry driver in recently asking to use our loo and our warehouse staff had no idea which one to direct (him?) to. Above the waist, he was a bloke, but below she was wearing a skirt and heels. It doesn't 'freak me out'; there have always been cross-dressers and the like; but seeing this sort of display in a public place makes me worry for my kids and grandkids.
We met one a couple years ago while on holiday in Costa del Sol. Got chatting to him in outside cafe. He looked like Izzy Osbourne, in his dress and high heels, & bangles. He was quite ordinary to talk to and really nice company.
Heard that he was a transvesite months ago but only ever knew him from work as a bloke.
Quiet kind of guy, always got on etc...
Me and him were the last ones out of work on Thursday, I locked up etc, and then we meet again on Friday and he/she is a woman.
Dress, make-up, high heels, handbag etc....
Shock to to the system no matter how open minded you are!
He/She had nice legs though, Ill grant that.....
I get what you mean. I guess what's weird for us will become the norm for them. They'll probably look at our generation's values the way we look at Victorian values.
Hazi - Sad to see that industrial levels of ignorant bigotry where a stranger can automatically assume
that a transvestite must automatically also be a paedophile, is still rearing its ugly head.
