Hi there, I was in a supermarket car park a couple of days ago and heard a strange sound. I looked to see two weird looking birds making the most awful noise.
A rather large sea gull landed next to one of them, only to be chased away by this noisy weird bird.
Apart from their strange sound, they also had funny, almost bent, necks. I've attached a couple of photos I took. What in the heck are they? I'm intrigued!
Me and another lady were just staring at them in the car park lol.

Baby gull? Wow. Yet they were chasing and attacking the big gulls? And the sea gulls were flying away!
Question Author
They were quite big with a funny arched over back.
interesting fact.
do you know why seagulls are called seagulls.?
^ it was only a matter of time before someone came along and said that :)
Ah well, saved someone else the bother.
Fledglings gulls are often much bigger than their parents and in the the world of nature size always matters ! To the fledgling everything is new and they will have a go at anything that is not familiar !
We get quite a few black backed gulls here at certain times but they don't nest locally.
The adolescent ones will have been begging food from the adults which weren't about to oblige. The fact that the adults landed near them suggests they were actually the parents and concerned that the young ones were perhaps in a bit of trouble.
Probably live on the roof of McDonalds.
They're teenage gulls - and these days most adults give teenagers a wide berth ;-)
