I've seen more than ever this year.Is this the reason I've see many fewer small birds ?

Don't think it works as simply as that. There's always a balance between predator and prey. Jackdaws do appear in groups, even at this time of year when there are suitable nest sites close by. Lack of small birds may be explained by late nesting and heavy losses in the winter.
It's dog eat dog, or bird eat bird.
