Every now and then I come home from work to find that my cat's eye, her left one, looks a bit swollen and she keeps it shut. On closer inspection I cannot find any blood or sign of a scratch and wondered what was causing it? It is obviously irrating her but the next day when I think I'll take to the vets to get it checked out it's back to normal and not causing her any bother. Strange. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it or what it is? There's not any gunge like conjuntivitis (sp).

Maybe a grass seed or something int he lower/higher part of the eye. Have a look around the eye ball as you would with children, pulling the lid out all around.

I certainly wouldn't muck around with ANY swelling, you know the answer even if it looks ok now.
