My wife bought a cat a few months ago but neither of us know anything about keeping cats.

One thing that worries me is the cat getting fleas, It has a flea collar but :

do they work, and if so how?
how long do they last? (the collar not the cat)

None of my cats have ever had collars - but I use Frontline drops and they have worked brilliantly
Advantage is another one
I use Frontline Spot On too (for the cat, not myself!).

I've tried Johnson's Flea and Tick drops.. rubbish. if anyone wants the leftovers, let me know :o)

Please explain about frontline drops what do you do with them? How do they work?
muphy has a flea collar i change every 3 months and she's fine. although be careful it your is an outside cat make sure it one that will break if it gets caught on a branch or something
fluffy is absolutely right - that's the reason I don't like collars
frontline is blinking expensive, but nothing else works like it. from bitter experience of using cheaper stuff, i had to have a man in a suit come round and spray the house. and i mean a man in a paper suit with a canister on his back, not a ben sherman suit
Could I just add that some cats have an allergy to frontline, so be aware.
