I am just in the middle of listening to the talking book of BORN FREE by Joy Adamson.
She frequently mentions that she was able to follow the tracks of Elsa, and other animals by their spores.
Can anyone explain how this is done.
Thanks

She said 'spoor' .

"Spoor: the track, trail, or scent of a person or animal , especially (as a collective noun) the footprints of a wild animal hunted as game" [Oxford English Dictionary]

Though she might have said 'spoors' in the plural, suggesting that each species tracked had its own distinctive spoor.
