Good morning ray
That sounds idyllic - it's days like these make you glad to be alive. I too have woodpeckers nearby and I love to watch and especially listen to the buzzards overhead - they have such a wonderful cry. Unfortunately I have to be at work too!
Good morning! Wot a lovely note!!! Fairly brightened up my day! :o)
Morning ray sweets , what a lovely description of country nature . My sister lives in the sticks down in Cornwall and has nesting birds in the garage eaves , and often describes the playing rabbits she can see from her window . :-) ((( hug ))) xxxxxxx

Hi you three, thank you for looking, today is also so beautiful, the buzzards have nested in some gorse, I will be watching them very closely, the lambs are bleating, the sky is blue and I live in heaven,

Britain is such a beautiful country, we are very blessed, I am off fishing for trout in the river conwy later, once the sun goes down slightly, hope fully will be plenty of activity along the river bank, siskins are about, my neighbour saw two this morning, woodpecker is visiting us as I type, he loves the peanuts, we also have a cuckoo, who has prroblems with identity, I think he has been watching the woodpecker because he has been pecking at the top of the telegraph pole, he will blunt his beak, lol, the top is covered in metal. he is so chubby, whos nest will he invade to live this year,

I am a Londoner, but the day I moved to heaven was the best decision I have ever made, apart from marrying my princess, life is good, I am blessed, thanks again and take care all, Ray xx

Thank you alfie, been called a few things on here but never that, will keep you updated as to how many chicks buzzards have and how the season progresses, My rod is waiting for me by the door, the lambs are happy jumping around, the crows are trying to bully the buzzard, but the ignore them, woodpecker is very quiet today, but the house martins are such a delight to watch, the nests are growing by the hour, do they never rest these birds?

with luck, hopefully soon I will see the kingfisher, surely one of gods favourite creatures, the colours almost blind you, also the herons wading in the shallows, I actually saw one last week in the middle of the field I asked my friend why would he be there, and he said they also eat field mice, I never realised that, they are so gracefull when they walk, almost regal all it needs is an ermine stoal.

Thanks again people, good to chat to you, have good evening all, and take care, Ray
yoou have a good evening too! U are such a sweet pea!!!
Thanx for this lovely thread Ray :-)...You're naturally descriptive and I really enjoy reading all the birdie news ;-)
Hi ray - lovely isn't it?
The house martins've been back for a while now, and I'm pleased to see that honey bees are back round our cypress hedge. They deserted it suddenly last year, and I didn't think we'd get them back. Was watching two little squirrels this morning. You can't beat the countryside.
Hello ray!

What a lovely thread! So nice to read such pleasant observations and definitely not wasted on me as we are a family of wildlife lovers and my husband and son are keen ornithologists so particularly good to hear of the bird news.

My son informs me that we have had three or four Red Kites over here in the last day or so - these are not that commonly seen in East Devon.
The sun is still shining, the sea is reasonably calm and I'm not working again 'til this eveninig so I shall enjoy the afternoon.
My swallows are just putting the finishing touches to their nest on the top of the light in our front porch. Their favourite place every year!! The front door is now closed for the next few months! Knock on our door at your own risk - you are likely to get dive bombed and splattered!
Question Author
Hi all, thank you all for looking. you really are lovely people,

I have been watching the house martins, they swoop and dive so majestically whilst collecting bits for the nests, two of them are on the wall chatting like two old ladies over the fence, then off they fly only to come back 30 seconds later and contiue the talk, the buzzards are circling the skies as if they own all they survey, not brillainat flyers unklike the beautiful sparrow hawk that visits and goes as quickly, but the buzzard looks so confidant, the crows are now leaving them to it, the lambs are growing daily and not bouncing quite as high as last week, the springs are wearing out, be so funny if the mums bounced like the spring lamb,

I never caught any fish last night, but the beauty of just relaxing by the running waters, so crystal clear and the sunlight glistening like diamonds as the water gushes over the shallow rocks, the distant church bell along with the bleating lambs is the only thing apart from the water rushing past is the only sound to break a deathly silence, please go out and enjoy this beautiful country we live in, speak soon all, Ray xx

Yoga so lucky to have red kites, they are the kings of the sky, the humble Bee what a delight, they are so busy helping the world to live and to polinate the earth that gives us our food, we never thank them do we, and to all you others who enjoy what you describe, thank you, please keep posting, lets do it like a diary, not only on this thread but please put your news up as and when it happens, be great to read how things are all over the UK.
One of life's greatest pleasures is obvserving nature - and it's absolutely free. Like you, Ray, I am a country dweller, but even those that life in urban environments can find a quiee corner of a park or garden where you can spend time just obvserving.

Hi lottie, so very true if only people looked they would see and if they could see they could learn and if the could learn they could teach, but no, they walk around with "eyes wide shut" so much to see, even in central london, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, butterflies, bees, so many birds, we need them far more than they need us, when I go out into the field outside my cottage, the whole thing is my "Cathedral" the grass is the floor, the trees are the walls, the sky is the roof, the structure is forever beautiful and I never need to paint it, it changes colour as and when it wants, the roof may leak, but the floor is clean, I love going to churc, in my field, so near to heaven on earth, thank you once again and carry on with your looking and enjoying , as I will, Ray xx
I think the ongoing thread (like a nature diary) is a great idea ray. I will try to post when I can. Really must catch up now....mmm, possibly in the garden I think! xx
Do you write professionally Ray. If not, you should! x

Oh gosh ray, just checking my post and read your last post - it brought a tear to my eye as it was so beautifully described !! Nature is amazing.

Hi lottie and yoga, you are very kind, and we are very lucky, lottie, my grammar is awful and I left school at fifteen, well was asked to leave before being expelled, what you wrote is one of the loveliest things anybody has ever said to me.
so thank you very much, I would love to write, but nobody would ever understand me. I can write a whole page without a comma, full stop or paragraph.
I will try to add to the post as the week goes on, if not maybe one of you could jolt my memory early next week with a nature thread, so nice to talk to really genuine lovely people, so thank you once again, Ray xx
