so whales and dolphins swim in the same waters, or do they prefer to stay away from each other???

Why would they?

They are all cetaceans, so belong to the same Order.

went whale watching in australia and a bloke said because we'd seen dolphins nearby we'd probably not see any whales, which we didin't!!!!
Very interesting. Was this chap connected to the whalewatch organisation or one of those annoying 'knowitall' tourists?

Across the Tasman sea in NZ is a small place called Kaikoura
