When I walk past my neighbors house, their dog is always waiting behind the porch door to run out and try and hump any innocent passer by .... the poor postman gets it on the leg every morning and lately he's been trying to get at me too.... although I'm a bit too quick for him every mornnig and run into my car quick and slam the door shut before he can even sniff me out.

Anyway, is this normal for a dog? And will it ever stop this disturbing behavior as I dont know how long I can keep running from my front door to my car every morning ... :S

Does your neighbor know what their dog gets up to?
Why is the dog not confined to their property?

You must have a very obliging postman. In my district a few have had a ring to pick their post up from the local P.O. because they have an unrestained dog on or about their property.

You already know the answer to your question - if the neighbor doesn't fix the situation, the council is the next step.

Dogs rushing up to people is not only disconcerting, but also dangerous. Children on bikes or walking can be terrified on such occasions and are unaware of the dog's intention. Do yourself and the dog a favour and inform your neighbour that it has to stop.
At least it's a friendly dog!! Not a nice thing to have to put up with, though - perhaps you should explain to your neighbour (feign embarrassment!) & maybe suggest he/she has their dog castrated? In a nice way, of course...!!

I dont know if its friendly or frustrated..... I think he should be dropped off to a pet centre where it can socialise with other dogs. I'll have a quick chat with the neighbor later on today. On the phone of course!!!
I know I am very unkind and unhelpful - but your post made me laugh.

It might be a young dog going through puberty and female dogs are in short supply. Males tend not to be too fussy about what they hump!
