My cat is showing symptoms of a cold. She has a watery eye and has been sneezing. She is up to date with all of her jabs so I dont think its anything serious. Do you think a trip to the vets is required? Or is it like humans - sit it out and keep warm?

I used to give my cat a week or so to stage a come back, if no improvement by then i'd take her to the vets - or if she got any worse ... make sure she's still eating and drinking - if she stops doing that get her to the vet.
As sad as the situation is, is the sight of a cat sneezing mildly amusing?

It is quite funny, although the cat doesnt seem to know whats hit 'em! She seems to have more or less recovered on her own thankfully.
It looks like my Simon has the same troubles. I thought it was possibly a clogged duct in the eye beacuse of the watering so I did a few compresses. Of course now he's sneezing too, and with his past history of URI as a kitten (he's six now) this seemed the most logical answer. Of course he's gotten sick right before my husband and I leave town for a week. Luckily my housesitter is a cat person.
