I'm going to my first Crufts next month at the NEC. the only information I can't find is... can I take my dog to the show? Not as an entry, of course, but as a visitor.

No you cannot take your dog along. To be honest it is not a good place to take your dog anyhow, it is very busy and there is so much going on with the stalls selling things and all the show rings etc. Even seasoned show dogs find it a very long and tiring day.
You too will be exausted when you get home, wear sensible walking shoes as you will cover a lot of ground!!
Leave your dog safe at home, enjoy your day and bring your dog lots of treats home with you!

Keep your purse safe. 3 friends have lost their purses through pickpockets. Best time to go is early Thursday 8th March as the day goes on it gets too crowded. The weekends are horrendous.
I have been going to Crufts since it was at Olympia then Earls Court and now NEC absolutely love it.

Sound advice from kita - also it is a good idea to have a plan of what you want to see otherwise you can walk round in circles and miss what you were looking for.
If you are interested in a particular breed, make sure you go on the correct day, although there are almost every breed represented in a booth in the discover dogs section, where you can chat to enthusiasts and meet the dogs. These are there all four days, but each breed is only shown on one day, Thursday is Gundogs, Friday Working and Pastoral, Saturday Hounds and Terriers, Sunday Toy and Utility. Judging starts at 8.30 in some rings. You can buy a catalogue each day with all the entries in.
If you get a copy of one of the weekly dog papers, either Dog World or Our Dogs, they will probably have a show guide, and you can buy a copy of the Kennel Gazette which will also have maps and a guide.
This year they are using an extra hall, so there should in theory be more room, although you will find that everyone wants to move in opposite directions when going from one hall to another. Saturday and Sunday will be busiest.
Take plenty of money, as the trade stands are full of stuff you can only dream of. Food and drinks are also quite expensive, so take some with you. It is always quite hot in there too, so wear layers that you can easily take off, but remember it wll probably be cold when you come out.
Top Tip 1: Head for the West Car Park, it is a lot less far to walk to the halls. Just follow the signs for the British Rail station (the red zig zag arrows) and at the last roundabout go into the West Car Park. Also make a good note of where you leave the car! I believe there are some people still wandering about from last year trying to find theirs!
Top Tip 2: If you have not already bought a ticket to get in, just look for someone struggling with several dogs, bag, trolley, etc and offer to carry a
