Why is my male cat middening/urinating in the house?

He is nearly a year old, and has been trained for about 10 months. We have two other (female) cats, and he gets on well with them. He is bold and loving and does not seem in ANY way upset. However, 2 nights ago, he middened on the carpet and yesterday he urinated by the food bowl (I know - VERY unusual!) He did the same this morning. He was in our room, on our bed all night as I worried he may have been upset about something.

I have caught him sometimes making to go in the bath, but lift him and put him outside.

Does anyone have any suggestions? He does not appear to be ill or in any pain either. It's not cystitis, as there is LOTS of it when he does wee!

Thanks

Have you had him neutered? Sounds like he's marking his territory and having him neutered should hopefully stop him.

No he is neutered. He isn't spraying. He is actually weeing...
Do you use littertrays? or do your cats go out to do their business? If you have just one litter tray between them - he could be funny about this because mine were - it was a nightmare - as they often don't like using the same tray as their other housemates. Vinegar is also meant to do the trick if he is soiling one particular place. Or try spraying the litter tray and surrounding area with catnip to encourage him to go there. Good Luck : 0 )

Thanks Foxy. I think I have worked out what his problem is.... It's cold and he's lazy!!!

I tried putting the litter tray back last night (he hasn't used it for 8 months!) And... no little presents on the carpet this morning! None in the tray either mind you, but he HAS been using it to wee in!

I think he is just spoiled and doesn't want to go in the snow!

I'll keep the tray there for now and see how it goes. More work for my husband! I'm pregnant and can't go near the tray.

I wondered if he had also picked up on me being pregnant and is a little put out...
