Spaying a bitch doesnt affect the gender'of the dog biologically as she still has all her, well, bits and pieces. But does neutering a dog make him sexless? Surely you're taking away the things that make it intrinsically male?

So having a penis doesn't make it a male?
Do you really think the only difference between a male and a female is what is between their legs??

:-S Friendly aren't you? No need to be like that, I was just kinda thinking out loud.
Yes but when you really think about it woola it's like saying a bloke who's had a vasectomy isn't a man anymore......
Sorry, didn't mean to come across unfriendly!! but you can see where I'm coming from.

I was just thinking along the lines of removing the testes, thus the dog not producing any more testosterone, the male sex hormone.

All it was that got me thinking was a friend's dog who is getting neutered later this week, much to the disgust of his male owner who sees it as a removal of his 'manhood'. Just thinking from a biological perspective. Forget I mentioned it.
I understand what you are saying but cut the poor guy some slack, of course he is still a male.
Genetically they are still the same whether male or female.
Unless of course they are hermaphrodites, when they are both at the same time!
smartiepants!!!!! cheers skylight
In most cases, when bitches are spayed, the ovaries are removed with the uterus, so technically has her 'bits' removed also!
