Have any cat owners given this to their cats? I was previously unaware of it, until recently when my cat got all excited when I opened up a carton of Horlicks - instantly, his nose was up and twitching. I got a little bit on my fingers, and he was licking them furiously. The reaction was so strong that I later went searching on the internet for 'cat' and 'horlicks'. Unsurprisingly, this didn't return much, so I searched again for 'cat' and 'malt' - loads of results from pet supply stores offering cat malt products. Apparently, it's to help them get rid of swallowed hair...

Yes, I got my cats some hairball ointment and it smelt very malty. The cats loved it!

Couldn't believe how excited he got - even more than when he smells catnip. He's a semi-long-haired cat, and did cough up a couple of hair sausages when he was shedding, so I might try it out. Never seen it in pet shops, though.
It's Johnsons hairball remedy, I must admit I have not used it for a while, the use by date was 2004!
I have just smelt it and it does smell of a combination of malt and marmite!! It is very sticky and you put it on their paws and they groom it off. But one of my friends said she used it and her cats loved it so much, they would eat it straight from the tube!
