I have been told that its ok to give my rabbit bread, is this ok? thanks

I dont know, my rabbbit likes fruit if your looking for something knew try that. Or ask a vet if you really need 2 know.
yes its fine to feed them bread, white bread isn't all that good but wholemeal and grannery is very good if you have some that is going a bit stale (not mouldy) then by all means let them have it they will love it, also if you find that you have ran out or are running out of your rabbit mix you can give this instead of or as part of a meal to give you chance to get to the pet shop
One of my rabbits loves Ryvita - especially the ones with seeds on the top. I've given them baked wholemeal bread too. Its good for their teeth.
By the way, neither of my bunnies like carrots !!
