Neutering a kitten

How old should a male kitten be when he is neutered?

The humane society where i adopted my kiitten neutered him @ 2 months. Im sure if this was not an appropriate age they would not have done it.

they can neuter them at an earlier age than thought, ask 5 vets and they will all have a different response, I have done that to see what they say. I was asking for a dog, but they said cats are included in this.

Most say if they can handle being out for surgery, and the testicles are there, they do it, some will do it even if the testicles have not shown, just to make sure it's done, ie...the humane society..before the animal goes to a new home it has to be done, the females are a bit different some they wait till they are a bit older, maybe 10-12 weeks, because the females have to have a bit more harder on the body surgery, they actually get opened up.

The sooner the better for them, that way no bad habits form. I have seen your kitten Peanut, he is a cutie.

Thanks everyone. What kind of habits do you mean? My wee boy is adorable but very adventurous and curious. I have only had puppies before (we had cats as a child) so this is all new to me. I'm not supposed to have a cat as I am asthmatic and allergic but he found us and we couldn't find his owner so he has just stayed.

we just had our cat done and he was 6 months old,i dont think you can do it any earlier than 6 months, yty ringing the vet.

Thank you. He was done yesterday and is now recovering and not happy that he can't go outside. He is still cute though.
