Just to follow up - ours was also mains powered.

Ours was about 25 years ago, the cats loved it but I got fed up having to clean the filter out every day!

I think thinking about getting a new one and see how they have improved.

There's this little wheel which goes around, but you have to provide the gerbil.

Frankie seemed to think that he should drink from the fountain when his mouth was full of food.  The filter didn't last long.

Princess Merlin took one look at it, screamed and ran away.

It's just that the cats are interested in a dripping tap.

I've ordered a fountain.  Hope they don't ignore it.
