Couldn’t heed the warnings, could they, so an innocent animal dies.

a shame, but governments have to put the interests of people, even stupid people, first.

it's a government's business to look after people, that's why.

The stupid voters are the ones who must be kept alive at all costs.
Agree with TTT - and his terminology. This makes me both sad and angry.

Once again animals have to pay the price for human stupidity.
Oh for goodness sake...can't people resist the urge to bring politics into everything?
Just stop.
But it wasn't the problem, the humans were. So shouldn't it have been the humans humanely put down to protect the walrus ?
True O-G...humans aren't a protected species yet, are they?
Seems they are, pasta.
Sickening. Once again, I am ashamed of my stupid race. RIP Freya x

it's not a matter of party politics, pasta. All human societies have put humans first, and so they should. There are reasons why people go closer to walruses than they would to lions or elephants; the authorities in this case seem to have done their best to keep them away, so I don't think they can take any blame. In their position I'd have done the same.
Not gonna read it as I know I will be upset and angry.
pastafreak: Spot on.
A bad decision in my opinion.

Provide the warnings, and give any idiots that ignore them a Darwin award.
jno: "it's not a matter of party politics, pasta." - then why did you bring politics into it at 17:52?
Joined up thinking from the authorities :-

"...other options had been considered, including moving Freya out of the fjord, but they had been discarded out of concern for the welfare of the walrus"

So they shot it instead. You couldn't make it up.
TTT, I said it wasn't party politics - that was your contribution. But things like laws protecting animals will naturally come from governments, and they will put humans first: governments are human creations and rely on human votes.
