sqad: "For these owners, it was probably routine for them to take the dogs with them 360 days of the year and they just carried on with their routine without thought. " - then they are too kin stupid to be allowed out on their own, let alone keep a dog.

This makes me so very angry. The dog owners should be shoved in the car and made to suffer for an hour.
I agree Rocky. There should be a severe punishment. Absolutely NO person is unaware that this is not the thing to do with dogs.
I’m sorry, I can’t bear to read it. But I see the poor dogs were rescued. Thankfully.

I hope the owners are banned for life from owning a pet, at the very least. Prison too, perhaps. In a very hot cell.
What the hell is wrong with people?! There has to be something seriously wrong with anyone who thinks that’s ok.

I know Rocky, every summer we read of this happening and the culprits (idiots) just get a telling off.
I would take an immense amount of pleasure in smashing the car windows. Especially, if I had to try them all ;0)
Most people are aware, there will always be the odd idiot.
Prudie - // Absolutely NO person is unaware that this is not the thing to do with dogs. //

Sadly, I think it is the minority who know not to leave animals or children in hot cars.
I absolutely dread this every year because I just know it's going to happen time and time again. How do they treat their dogs normally I wonder if they think it is perfectly acceptable to leave dogs in boiling hot cars ?? It's about time a law was brought in to hopefully stop these morons. Poor, poor dogs.
Any person who takes their dogs in the car with them, is a loving dog owner.

Are you suggesting that the owners DELIBERATELY left the dogs in what was clearly an oven?

I would like to know the explanations given by the owners before I pronounce judgement.
-- answer removed --
Of course they deliberately left the dog(s) in the car. They placed the dog(s) in the car; they drove away; they parked; they got out of the car and left the dog(s) in the car!!
Sqad, are you suggesting the owners forgot they were there? Of course they left them in the cars deliberately.
Jura, I agree.

It's hard enough keeping them cool inside let alone taking them out in a car and leaving them.
For these owners, it was probably routine for them to take the dogs with them 360 days of the year and they just carried on with their routine without thought.

Are you suggesting that these owners knowing, realising and appreciating the danger, just went ahead?

I find that difficult to believe.
I hope they get the book thrown at them, total idiots!
And after seeing Sky News and all the fires , BQs should be banned!
that white dog is a total cutie :)
Apparently 'dog mode' is a thing - the air con can be left on to keep your dog cool whilst the car is parked up. Tesla's dog mode makes it easy for passers by to see the temperature inside the car.
I suppose that's to stop the police smashing the windows, barry
A little rational and objective thought (always a novelty on pet cruelty threads) would suggest that people do leave their dogs in cars, but not with the intention of leaving them to bake to death.

More likely is that people don't stop to consider just how hot the interior of the car is going to get, and just how severe the change in temperature is going to be, and the dreadful effect it is going to have on their pet(s).

That sounds more plausible that the notion that dog owners take the dogs out simply to kill them.
