Humbing Bird Moth

Saw one of these little guys in my garden, going from flower to flower on my red campion and avoiding all else.
By the time I got my camera, alas it had flown away.

Fantastic creatures - only ever saw a couple of times in the UK midlands - much more often on visits to Brittany.

They are rumoured to have made it to our corner of Ireland last year - perhaps if we get some sunshine they'll be back ...

I saw one in my garden a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a humming bird but realised it was too small once I'd done some research, so thanks that's definitely what I saw.
