My cats love the biscuits Mewing Heads
Eh? I thought ads on AB weren't allowed, hence all the keto spam being zapped. How is this any different?
Anyone but the Ed and I would have reported this post for advertising!
I'd have thought so too.
Must say I'm a bit surprised.
Question Author
I mean, of course there is a difference between me writing a post on behalf of a carefully chosen business or product that I genuinely think people might be interested in, and random members joining the site solely for the purpose of advertising whatever nonsense is currently trending among the spammers. I'm surprised that needs to be said!
Good enough Ed.
Hiya welcome Boris.
It's still an advert. There are enough ads on AB now without having editorial ones too.
There is an "Offers and Competitions" category so I dont see any difference in folk giving details of an offer in there or the category the offer relates to.
Question Author
Agreed, TCL, people can do that if they want.
Is this the future?

"And now....A word from our sponsors" ?
"carefully chosen business or product"
define carefully chosen ed?
Is it synonymous with "paid me to say so"?
... and does it come with a cuppa
Question Author
Zacs - We've been posting sponsored content on AB for years. So yes, I suppose it is the future, but also the past and the present.

Bednobs - The two aren't mutually exclusive.
i beg to differ ed about the mutual exclusivity, but your playpen, your rules
AB Editor
I volunteer in an Oxfam shop and we have regular 50% off sales online via Oxfam online.

I am never very sure if mentioning this is against ABs rules.

Or if a member of AB has their own business.

Can you clarify what is acceptable? I understand that the spammers are just pests to be ignored.

Wolf - Crazy Cat Lady, who has no cats.
Question Author
Wolf - I wouldn't have a problem with that. If a legitimate member - who is here to chat about other things, and not just someone who signed up in order to promote their wares - wanted to mention their business, that's absolutely fine.
Well I don’t think I have ever seen such advertising from the editorial team on AB. But I could be wrong .
Psst, I know where to lay my hands on some bargain gnomes ;-)
