Has been doing so well with her toilet training. We live in an apartment so her puppy pads are on a tray on the balcony. For the last 2 weeks she has done her business perfectly there, but today twice she has peed at a different place ( same place) on the balcony. Any ideas as to why ?

Is this the same puppy that was 'persona non grata' a few weeks or so back??
Question Author
No no. That was my son's puppy.
Well how is that puppy? You never came back and told us.
Question Author
She's iluv. An absolute doll.
Question Author
I meant she's fine.
Good because she was only a pup when she 'messed up' and knew no better.

Sorry, I can't help you with your query.
l once lived in an apartment and people above me let their child pee on the balcony that use to drip onto mine i know you have a puppy but it could drip .
Were the pads wet or did the tray have pee on it. She might have wanted somewhere dry to go
Question Author
oh that's disgusting mally. No, no chance of that happening with us :)
Question Author
No calmk. We don't let the pads get soaked. Maybe leave one little pee. Maybe she was a bit stressed as we have been to the vet today for her vaccine etc. She looks very contrite at the moment.
If she was still on the balcony does it matter? She wanted inside and as you said she is still only a puppy.
Question Author
Yes cashier it matters. And no, she didn't want inside, she had been inside and went out.
Why does she look contrite? Have you shouted at her?
I think you need to learn properly how to train a dog with love.
Maybe she is telling you that she doesn't want to pee on a puppy pad and would much prefer to do what normal dogs do and has learned she wants to go and pee on grass particularly as she is an female. Instead of questioning why (and no doubt making her feel contrite because of your reaction) you should be taking notice and ensuring she has plenty of opportunity to be taken out to somewhere she is happy to go. Otherwise I can foresee a very miserable life for this poor puppy.
I would add that I have literally thousands of friends/acquaintances in the dog world and I don't know anyone who would sell someone a dog who expected it to only ever pee and poo on a balcony. Did you tell the breeder that was your plan?
This poor puppy? My gosh. It's a simple question about puppy pads.
Question Author
jakep and lankeela. No we did not shout at her, just told her NO. She is a sensitive soul. She is only 3 months and cannot go on the street yet. She is very much treated with love, do not insinuate any different please.
I thought as much, Sam.
Question Author
Anyway, since I posted she has reverted back to using her pad. I think there were two reasons she did what she did. One was that she was a bit stressed after having been to the Vet that morning for her vac. and two because her tray had been moved slightly to a different position. Anyway, all's well this morning.
