What is your opinion about letting toddlers watch TV at such a young age? Did you watch a lot of TV growing up or did your parents monitor and limit your TV watching?

there wasn't tv when I was a toddler....at least we hadn't got one
There wasn't much tv for toddlers to watch when I was little. Watch With Mother for 15 minutes a day was just about all there was.
TV should be monitored and limited for children.
There are some great programmes tailor made for little ones and if it gives everyone a half hour or so of time to breathe or prepare lunch then it's no bad thing - or you can watch with them.
I am from the Listen with Mother generation
We didn't have a tv til I was 10.....my dad didn't get a car til I was 13....
It depends what sort of watching TV it is. If it's the sort where you sit down with them and talk to them about the programmes, it's fine. If it's the sort where you sit them down and tell them to "watch that whilst I play with my smartphone/chat to my friends and ignore you", it's wrong.
One day the Teletubbies generation will be running the country.

...oh wait a minute.
I don't remember watching TV as a toddler. I can't remember being a toddler.
I don't remember watching tv as a toddler but I did watch Play School, Play Away and Rainbow etc when I was a bit older.

Little Tigs watched Cbeebies every now and then.
Like others nothing available when I was growing up. I didn't put TV on for my daughter when she was a toddler but she did watch and love a lot of Care Bear videos etc.
A bit older than a toddler I learnt more from watching Dangermouse than Itsy and Bitsy.
I remember being 6 years old and pleading with my mother to let me watch Cool For Cats. Other than that I don't remember much about TV when I was small.
Tom and Jerry for me. I used to watch it with my granddad.

We were always playing out. Hardly any cars meant we could.
Ha ha, we didn't even have electricity in our home when I was growing up - gas for lighting and cooking. Although I did see TV in friend's houses, I was in my early 20s before I rented my first b/w TV set.
Loved Tom & Jerry and Scooby Do ;o)
I used to watch Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy and Rag, Tag and Bobtail when I was little. Remember them all with fond affection, don't think they did my any harm !
Without lowering the tone of the thread, this clip of Rainbow does Top Gear is for...
***ADULTS ONLY*** a tad naughty but funny.

Spent most of my young days playing out!!! From am to pm. Then bath & bed.
Lazy parents. Should be teaching them to read and to use a knife and fork and go to the loo before sending them to school...
As a young child my parents allowed me unrestricted access to watching TV and everything I needed to know I learnt from the TV.

I saw my future (when I became an adult) travelling around in a camper van with a group of friends and a large dog – investigating murder mysteries, mostly at abandoned fairgrounds.
