You are going to have to describe what you mean by a panther. There is no one big cat specifically described as a panther. Jaguars, leopards, pumas are all panthers. Black panthers can be any of these cats when they are of a black colour.

No they are not - Pumas and Jaguars are native to the Americas and are known as panthers (especially if black) black leopards are NOT.

Panthers describe MANY types of big cat the commonest of which are jaguars and leopards both which can be black and are known as Black panthers. Pumas can also be classed as panthers

Danny - there is no ONE specific animal known as a panther! Lots of different members of the panthera family are known as panthers depending where you are in the world!

eg a Black panther in South America will be a black jaguar, a black panther in Africa will be a black leopard!
