I just spoke to the behaviourist who is bringing him down...she speaks of him with so much affection.

Tilly...// Have you got one of those lovely, much wider collars for him...and a muzzle?//
I've already got a collar...Sally's. But they told me he'll come with a martingale collar, and a harness. He'll also have a muzzle.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_(collar)

Good for you Zacs...I hope you find a new furry friend. I'm sure adopting is the last thing on many people's minds, and there will be more dogs and cats needing homes.
Question Author
LB...I'm not sure, but I was looking at one of the charity's videos of a collection of ex racers... there were 5 or 6 dogs in the van, and I'm pretty sure I heard his name mentioned though the sound quality was rubbish. This was from late December.
Is he there, Pasta?
Question Author
Yes! And he's gorgeous...and HUGE. Must be about 30-50% bigger than Sally.
He's already found his bed...throwing treats on it works
Awww! Lovely. :-)
I hope you really enjoy each other :-). Out of interest, I was looking at name changes for rescue dogs, as it seems most people like to either keep the same one, or one that sounds similar, believing it is better for the dog. I did the same...
However, it seems that if the move is a longterm one and the dog isn't very elderly, it can actually be beneficial for them to have a new name with a new start. They don't identify with them in the same way as we do... and particularly, if the dog has had any trauma in his/her past (which you may or may not know), a different name can be very helpful. X
Good luck - hope he settles and soon fits into your routine - never had a problem with one yet.
That's lovely, sounds like he's keen on settling in. I hope he brings you the rewards your compassion deserves.
Have fun pasta, must be lovely after the sadness you've had to deal with lately. As they say, when one door closes another one opens :-)
So pleased he is with you now.
Question Author
Thank you pixie, that's interesting. I was just told that any name change should be immediately. He does know his current name...ears perk up.
I want to look at him, but supposedly its best to just ignore him for the time being.
Have you decided on a name, Pasta, or are you giving yourself a bit more time to consider?
A bit of wonderful news in this very unsettle time. So exciting :-)
Question Author
A bit more time Tilly.
I'm just grinning right now ;))
Thrilled for you - and him ♥
This is lovely & I wish you a long, happy time together :-)
Good luck Pasta , give him loads of love.
"Sammi" I believe at last you are a lucky dog and have struck gold this time, so enjoy every minute of your new life ♥
