Garden tiger moths, that is.
I had a few in the garden last year but this year there seems to be many more of these beautiful, colourful moths.
They've been around for the last fortnight and are especially attracted to my Buddleia bush.
Anyone else seen these among the butterflies and bees ?

Well yes but mine are the Jersey Tigers which although not that common I see every year here in the South. they are on my buddleias but also seem to like my grapevine. Stunning in flight.

I was all excited - I thought that you had an invasion of Ginger Ninja pussycats.

:-(
Someone on a neighbouring allotment had a hummingbird hawk moth, a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, several Jersey Tiger Moths here, indoors and out.
A chap somewhere in Kent set up an overnight moth trap recently and counted over 160 in the morning!

Prudie's post prompted me to look a little closer and I've since discovered that the ones I saw are also the Jersey kind.
I'm in the Herts area, so it seems that this species is definitely extending its range further north.
