The Fire people use rescues like this as training exercises. I think that Angus was one lucky cat. Frankie fell down the toilet once and I am sure that many other cats get into stupid situations.

Of course it's not a waste of money! I'd be ashamed to be part of the human race if we let a defenceless animal suffer like that without helping it. Hope he doesn't get into any more scrapes...

I thought he was a stray. It is nice to know they helped him in the end and that he has been reunited with his family.

Unfortunately, yes. There are many animals in the world whom are suffering, and luckily for these animals, they can be put to sleep in a painless way. The fact the cat is now well and reunited with its owner makes the efforts from the firemen and the vets much more productive.
