Dog Gates. Anybody Use One In Their Home?

Question is, are there different dog gates for doors that open to the outside as opposed to internal doors? Or are they all the same? Thanks.

I just use an ordinary baby gate on the front door, I suppose it depends on what fittings you need though. It's nice to give the place a good airing now and then.

I have a normal baby gate on a room downstairs and a pet gate from Argos on the stairs - if you buy specific dog gates you tend to pay more - I got mine for a fiver on gumtree.

It was the fittings I was wondering about rr. I suppose you have to take the gate off every time you close the door and fix it back on again when you open it, unlike an indoor one.

Doesn't it depend on which way they are fitted or am I being thick?

So wold the fixings on either of those gates fit your front door or door to the back garden Islay?

If it's a standard doorway then yes, they fit.

Thanks Baldric. I need it to go on a patio door so one side will be attached to the other patio door and the other side will be attached to the door frame. The gap is 74cm.

You mention Patio Doors, is this 74 cms from a door frame to a sliding door (which could open even more) or to a fixed door as in a French Door which will nt get any wider?

Fixed Baldric. They open outwards.

Normal dog gate should be ok just double check measurements of doors and gates before buying.

Thanks B. One last thing. The fittings will adjust to the different thicknesses where they fasten to the door frame on one side and the door on the other? The door frame is thicker than the door.

Usually just a pressure type fitting, position the gate and bolts top and bottom screw outwards to press against door and frames.

OH missed her footing coming downstairs one day, sort of rolled into the dog-gate which stopped her in her tracks so a couple of terriers should be no problem.
Only thing hurt was her pride!

Oh dear, thank goodness she wasn't hurt. I'm not likely to do that as I don't have any stairs but if I had I would I'm sure.
