Slug Army

Urgh just opened back door and there's an army of slugs on the path. Can't stand the things.

Bad this year, aren't they........and horrid when you step on one in your bare feet and it squishes up between your toes...... :-(

I've had loads too. One of my back wall is covered!! Ugh!

They're not all bad. Leopard slugs don’t damage living plants, but eat other slugs including species that can damage garden plants and vegetables. They also eat dead and rotting plants along with fungi and this recycles nutrients and fertilises soil.

Can't remember last time there were so many. Must buy more salt. Oh, Gness, yuk!!!

Salt is such a cruel way of killing slugs, its not their fault if you keep providing the food they want to eat!

As the name suggests, they are "mottled" rather like a leopard's stripes.

I'll look out for the leopard ones.
I don't usually kiil but when they're trying to get in the back door the gloves are off.

Keep the gloves on.....Mess....look what happened to me when I took off the socks..... :-(

Put the gloves back on, pick them up and put them in a container and take them out for a nice walk in the country. The salt will make a dreadful mess

Make sure you take them away from garden...a few feet is not enough as they will return. Do you have any plants close by that they like to eat? Maybe circle them with sand or other rough surface.
