A Sad Day.

I thought we were winning with our little Minette, she was comfortable, strolling in the sunshine and had begun to eat much better (poached chicken and a bowl of double cream a day), but this morning there was a change. She could scarcely stand up and, in fact, fell over. We took her to the vet's and she had had some sort of brain event so I cuddled her as she went to sleep.

Been in tears most of the day, but it was the right thing do. 'Bye all for now.

sorry to hear this, jourdain - always distressing.......
Oh, so sorry, Jourdain
So sorry jourdain2, I know it is heartbreaking to lose a much loved pet.
It takes time but it does get easier.
:-(
So sorry for your loss. :( xx
You did all you could and you let her go with love too.

RIP Minette.
Yes, it was the right thing to do, Jourdain, and it a painful experience when you do it. Cry as much as you need to but try to hold on to the fact that she's now at peace and is not suffering.

Best wishes. x

So sorry Jourdain, never an easy time, look back on the good times and remember you always did your best for her, today was a final act of love, there was no where else to go. Thinking of you.
So sorry - it`s never easy. You did what I did when I had my little Puss put to sleep - you prevented the suffering that would have come.
It is amazing that such small animals (with loads & loads of c-attitude) manage to make such a positive impact on those who love them.

:'(
So sorry to read this, j2.

Had to have my faithful companion put to sleep on the 10th of this month, jourdain. She was a 16 year old miniature doberman cross who had contracted some unpronounceable illness related to older dogs not having been spayed - organ failure, riddled with arthritis. Vet said it was the right and humane thing to do but still a hard decision to have to make. Still not quite used to not having her around the house, so i do know how you feel right now and totally sympathise with you.

Minnie was 16, nearly 17, Ken. I found her as a half-grown kitten on a bale of straw in the barn when I moved to France. I know she loved me; when she had her kittens (before I realised she didn't belong to anyone else) she climbed onto the settee next to me and laid her head on me as she cried and produced them. I stroked her throughout and popped each kitty on a towel-covered hottie in a box as they emerged. We had a very close relationship all her life. I'm going to concentrate on that. :-) (When I've stopped crying.)
A devastating time for you Jourdain. She will always live on in your heart.x
Yes a sad day indeed, jourdain. Minnie lived a long and happy life, you have done the right thing for her.
Sorry to hear your sad news. You had her a long time and you obviously had strong bonds with each other. Always remember the good times and then she will always be with you. RIP little Minette.
You may not like this Jourdain but I suggest that you get a new kitten as soon as you feel able. A new life and new responsibility will take away some of the pain, honestly.
