Last year, I recall checking the cam several days in a row then on the day I forgot/didn't bother to check, that's when he showed up, so it was "old news" by my next visit.

Stupidly, I didn't write down what day that was. Hopefully, the blog page should have that.

The nest may be empty but the dawn chorus more than made up for the lack of action. This morning, amongst the common or garden varieties, there was

unidentified geese (possibly Canada Goose)
Pheasant
Great Spotted Woodpecker (drumming)
Dunnock and Meadow Pipit in full song.

There was a single raptor-like shriek, probably buzzard. Loud enough that it must have been mere yards from the nest but didn't appear on camera.

There's been an osprey seen in South Yorkshire last week.

I wonder how it got that far north without being spotted? Flying at night?

(Keep the location under your hat, if you know. Fortunately, it's still google-proof).

It was flying north, hypo. Probably on its way to Northumberland or Scotland. We got one flying over the city centre 2 years ago, it didn't stay long as the peregrines duffed it up.

Wind and rain at the Dyfi. Just as I tuned in, a couple of workmen were approaching, but the signal cut out. Someone should warn them just how good the microphones are!

Well, whaddayaknow? I go out for a walk, for the first time in weeks and, on my return, there's a tweet (@DyfiOspreys) from 2hours ago with an arrival!

Nothing on the nest as I type but thought I'd pass on the news.
